In short: we collect only what a form needs, we never store your IP address, the site sets no cookies, and you can ask us at any time to see or delete what we hold about you.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Krisztián Berg, operator of compendiumnote.com. Write to [email protected] with any question or request about your data.
This notice covers compendiumnote.com and its forms: the accreditation form, the newsletter sign-up and the vote.
What we collect, and why
Accreditation form
- What: your name, e-mail address, the way you join (contributor, ambassador, school, partner or supporter), what you write about how you would like to help, and the time you gave your consent.
- Why: to read your request and get back to you about it. The legal basis is your consent (the checkbox on the form).
- Notification: when a request arrives, we receive a short private notification with your name, role and message — not your e-mail address.
Newsletter
- What: your e-mail address, the time you subscribed, and whether you have confirmed your subscription.
- Why: to send you news and releases now and then. Pressing “Subscribe” is your consent; before the first newsletter we will ask you to confirm it by e-mail (double opt-in). You can unsubscribe at any time.
Vote
- What: your answers, without your name or e-mail. Only the overall results are shown.
- Why: to learn which way the community wants to go.
Protection against abuse
- We never store your IP address. Instead we store a salted, one-way hash of it, which cannot be turned back into the address. It lets us stop floods of automated submissions and keep the vote to one per person per day.
- The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the forms usable and the vote fair.
Our own counts
We count events such as “a form was sent” or “a vote was cast”, with no personal data attached, to see how the site is used.
How long we keep it
- Accreditation requests: while we process your request, and at most 24 months after your last contact with us — or until you ask us to delete them.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address.
- Vote: the answers stay as part of the anonymous results; the hash linked to a vote is removed after 30 days.
- Flood protection: the short-lived counters expire after about 10 minutes.
Who processes it for us
Cloudflare hosts this site and stores the form data (Cloudflare Pages, D1 and Workers KV) as our data processor, under its Data Processing Addendum. Cloudflare may process data in the European Union and in other countries; transfers are covered by the safeguards in that addendum. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits to the site without cookies and without identifying you.
When we start sending newsletters, we will use an e-mail service provider; we will name it here before the first mail goes out. We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
Videos on the Media page
The Media page shows some videos from YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play on one; then the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, and Google’s own privacy policy applies to it.
Links to other services
When you follow a link to another service — for example Patreon, Donably or Ko-fi on the Support page —, that service’s own privacy notice applies there.
Cookies
The compendiumnote.com pages and their forms set no cookies and store nothing in your browser.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to send it to you in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect what was done before. Write to [email protected] — we answer within one month.
If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the data protection authority of your country; in Hungary this is the NAIH (naih.hu (opens in a new tab)).
